1700D Horizontal Grinder

Overview

Heavy duty and mobile, the 1700D Horizontal Grinder can readily reduce a wide range of materials. The 1700D’s large feed opening, measures 54″ x 27″ (137 x 69 cm). When boosted by Peterson’s high-lift feed roll, the feed opening’s maximum lift of 41.5 inches (105 cm) can tackle the largest of feedstock, and allows excellent accessibility to the rotor for maintenance.

The 1700D Horizontal Grinder is equipped with a Caterpillar Tier IV C9.3 455 hp (EU Stage V, 339 kW) engine, or an optional, export-only C9.3B Tier III, 415 hp (309 kW) engine. At 44,000 pounds (20 000 kg), it is the lightest of Peterson’s grinder series, and is easily transportable.

Peterson’s Adaptive Control System, featuring a fully adjustable feed system, is optimized for a wide range of materials. The 1700D control panel features a large display that provides the operator with complete engine and system parameters to simplify set up and efficiently operate the unit. The 1700D Horizontal Grinder also features Peterson’s patented Impact Release System, to protect the machine against ungrindable materials, a feature unique to Peterson horizontal grinders.

The 1700D Horizontal Grinder features a quick-change multiple grate system, making it easy to customize grate configurations. Grates are removed through an easy-access door on the side wall. With Peterson’s patented up-turn rotor, and heavy-duty bits, and robust anvil, the 1700D has an exceptional wear life and accurate product sizing.

The Peterson 1700D Horizontal Grinder is also Peterson+ enabled—a new remote monitoring solution providing machine owners access to real-time and historical data of their machine’s performance and location.

4800F Chain Flail Debarker

Overview

Continuing Peterson’s long history of innovation, the 4800F Chain Flail Debarker is the 6th generation design and has all the features that clean chip operations demand.

The Peterson 4800F Chain Flail Debarker multiple log delimber/debarker is designed to be used in tandem with whole tree chippers to produce high quality pulp chips. Capable of processing multiple logs from 2 to 23 inches (5–58 cm) in diameter, the 4800F increases productivity while reducing bark content, product handling time, and fiber loss.

Powered by a 350 HP (261 kW) CAT C9 Tier III or Tier IV engine, the 4800F meets all US, Canadian, and European Union emission regulations.  Equipped with a dedicated 135 gallon (511 l) hydraulic oil tank, and a 175 gallon (662 l) fuel tank to allow the 4800F to run an entire shift without fill-up.

The 4800F Chain Flail Debarker features upper and lower flails, direct drive lower in-feed and out-feed rolls, and a floating direct drive upper feed roll. The high capacity bark pusher has been redesigned and is now 5 feet (1.5 m) wide.

With a retractable gooseneck, the highway legal 4800F is easily moved between jobs. The four fixed landing gear (with floating pads) allow for adjustable operating height. The 4800F links wirelessly with the 5900E disc chipper for singular control of feed functions.

W70 Windsifter

Overview

The W70 Windsifter is designed for cleaning light impurities, such as plastic, out of screened compost and biomass materials. The W70 Windsifter has a dedicated infeed hopper with an integrated metering roller, allowing operation independently of a trommel screen. The W70 can be loaded via a wheel loader, or used in tandem with a trommel or star screen for superior material separation.

The machine is fed using a wide, flat belt conveyor at the bottom of the hopper, into a chamber (via a metering bar) where a strong air stream aerates the material. Light material (such as plastic) is pulled out of the material stream, and sorted material is then dropped onto two discharge conveyors. The first conveyor has a stone separator to remove light weight stones from the material and the final discharge conveyor has a magnetic head pulley to remove any ferrous materials from the compost or biomass. The waste material is collected into a separate waste collection bin.

The W70 is powered by a fuel-efficient (108 hp) 81kW JCB diesel engine, and is easily moved with its built in pintle hitch system.  The highly efficient W70 system is  capable of throughput rates of up to 105 yd³ per hour.

4710D Horizontal Grinder

Overview

The 4710D Horizontal Grinder is a track mounted horizontal grinder designed for high-volume producers with very demanding end-product specifications. Boasting 18 inches (46 cm) of ground clearance—this model is particularly suited for land clearing operations or other applications where mobility and frequent moving is desired. Track mounting also reduces material handling costs in conventional recycling yards as well.

The 4710D Horizontal Grinder is powered by a Tier IV Caterpillar C18 engine rated at 755 horsepower (563 kW). A Tier II (export only), 765 horsepower (570 kW) engine is also available. It features Peterson’s Adaptive Control System, which controls all components of the feed system to optimize output. This system senses variations in the engine load and adapts the operating parameters to produce the maximum amount of material at all times.

Peterson’s three-stage grinding process with an up-turning rotor and large grate area enables the 4710D Horizontal Grinder to produce materials to exact specifications. Quick-change multiple grate system makes it easy to customize grate configurations to produce a wide variety of finished materials. Grates are removed through an access door on the side wall.

The IQAN control system provides the operator with complete engine and system parameters to simplify set up to efficiently operate the unit.
