Overview

Heavy duty and mobile, the 1710D Horizontal Grinder can readily reduce a wide range of materials.

The 1710D’s large feed opening, measures 54″ x 27″ (137 x 69 cm). When boosted by Peterson’s high-lift feed roll, the feed opening’s maximum lift of 41.5 inches (105 cm) can tackle the largest of feedstock, and allows excellent accessibility to the rotor for maintenance.

The 1710D Horizontal Grinder is equipped with a Caterpillar Tier IV C9.3B 455 hp (Stage V, 339 kW) engine, or an optional, export-only C9.3B Tier III, 415 hp (309 kW) engine. At 46,500 pounds (21,092 kg), it is one of the lightest of Peterson’s grinder series, and is easily transportable.

Peterson’s Adaptive Control System, featuring a fully adjustable feed system, is optimized for a wide range of materials. The 1710D control panel features a large display that provides the operator with complete engine and system parameters to simplify set up and efficiently operate the unit.

The 1710D also features Peterson’s patented Impact Release System, to protect the machine against ungrindable materials, a feature unique to Peterson horizontal grinders.

The 1710D Horizontal Grinder features a quick-change multiple grate system, making it easy to customize grate configurations. Grates are removed through an easy-access door on the side wall. With Peterson’s patented up-turn rotor, and heavy-duty bits, and robust anvil, the 1710D has an exceptional wear life and accurate product sizing.

2700D Horizontal Grinder

Overview

The 2700D is designed for operations requiring high production and frequent moves between jobs. At 62,000 pounds (28 123 kg), it is amongst the lightest of our grinder series.

The 2700D is powerful with a Caterpillar Tier IV C15 580 hp (433 kW), C18 755 hp (563 kW), or an optional export-only C18 Tier II, 765 hp (570 kW) engine. Heavy duty and mobile, the 2700D can readily reduce a wide range of materials.

The 2700D’s large feed opening, measures 61″ x 32″ (153 x 81 cm), when boosted by Peterson’s high lift feed roll, the feed opening’s maximum lift of 44 inches (112 cm), can tackle the largest of feedstock.

Peterson’s Adaptive Feed Control System, featuring a fully adjustable feed system, is optimized for a wide range of materials. The 2700D control panel features a large display that provides the operator with complete engine and system parameters to simplify set up and efficiently operate the unit.

4300B Drum Chipper

Overview

The 4300B drum chipper is the latest in a long line of high quality chipping and grinding machines produced by Peterson. The 4300B drum chipper is suited for high volume biomass producers who have a wide variety of feed material, from logs up to 26 inches (61 cm) in diameter, to brush and small feedstock.

Powered by a C18 Caterpillar engine, the 4300B Drum Chipper is powered by 765 horsepower (570 kW). At 52,000 pounds (23,586 kg) and 8 feet 4-3/4 inches (255 cm) in width, the 4300B is a high production chipper whose dimensions do not require any oversize permits for road transportation.

The chipper utilizes a 36 inch diameter by 40 inch wide (91 by 102 cm) drum with wear resistant AR450 wear surfaces on the drum pockets and shell. A sloped feed deck makes feeding the chipper easier. The optional material sizing bars and chip accelerator minimize oversize twigs and branches in the chips, and help ensure tight chip packing and fully loaded chip vans.

Traditional babbitt type knife systems are standard equipment. Chip length can be changed from 1/4 to 1-1/4 inches (6 to 32 mm) by adjusting knife extension and feed speed.

The 4300B’s new generation of controls includes Peterson’s high-production Adaptive Control System. The new control panel provides self-diagnosis for faulty sensors and open circuits. Fault indicators make troubleshooting easy. The 4300B control panel features an LCD display that provides the operator the complete engine and system parameters to simplify setup and efficiently operate the machine.
