Mantis telescopic-boom crawler cranes were introduced by SpanDeck, Inc. in 1979 with versatility in mind. Mantis cranes combined heavy duty telescopic booms, hydraulically extendable crawlers, and compact dimensions to get closer to jobs. Mantis crawler cranes are used for a variety of construction applications that include bridge construction, foundation contractors, power transmission construction, retaining and sound walls, tank building projects, barge projects, railroads, tunneling and highways, wind power and work platforms. With lift capacities ranging from 35 to 172 tons and max boom lengths from 89’3” to 196’9” Mantis cranes are ready for any construction project.
In December 2008, Tadano, Ltd. acquired Spandeck, Inc., and the MANTIS crawler crane product line. Since the acquisition Tadano has continued to invest in engineering and technology of the Mantis hydraulic telescopic-boom crawler crane product line. In 2014, Tadano Mantis Corporation celebrated the 35th Anniversary of the Mantis telescopic-boom crawler crane.
